Transparency and Apology

It appears that readers must be registered to post a comment here. That is NOT my intentions.

Blogging is new to me, and I just discovered that flaw and have since changed the settings on this blog. Anyone can comment now, either anonymously or under a name (which offers some degree of anonymity).

This would be consistent with my past practices of inviting people to state their mind without the fear of censure or reprimand, and I have on occassions move up and forward the more scathing comments and e-mails to a more prominent place for all to read. That's how I operate in real life (thank God for this parts of the free world and thank God for tenure) and that's how I wish to carry on here.

However, I cannot guarantee that I will not response and retort, because I will.

The hallmark of full democracy is freedom of expression. This is different from freedom of speech in that not only is one permitted to speak their mind, but they are allowed to live out that opinion in their mind. However, democracy is a two-way street - your opinions are subjected to an alternate opinion from someone else .... and I will be leading that charge. Of course having facts on your side helps with your opinions as well. Factless opinions are fraudulent.

Jessie is one example. Although I may have taken snipes at homosexual lifestyle (in humour) and I personally disagree with that kind of lifestyle, I never once condemned it nor work towards convincing gays and lesbians to be otherwise.

Enjoy reading and commenting. Cheers!!

Welcome Cheah ... and thanks for the compliments. I've learnt that some people come to the USJ forum to be informed, others to be heard, and some to flame if they disagree with you. That's why I have decided to leave, since the fights are deliberately stage as distraction to the Jessie issue.

I believe we have seen some results, that we otherwise would not have if I had not started questioning the credentials. Her taking down her CV of dubious credentials and degrees, stopping using the title "Dr" and "Prof", and the removing of the testimonials from her "patients" are considered milestones.

And her silence, in my mind, implies guilt. Almost all of the medical academics that I have enquired with have not heard of the schools she attended and a few know some of them as diploma mills.

I am still collecting more information and will complete my posting, after which I will provide a full summary and then stop blogging.

Know why I'm interested to read your posting? My mum had rectum cancer last year. Was once lost and bump into few so call "Dr". Lessons learnt and are more alert with ppl who claim can cure cancer!! Unfortunately, no ones seems to care to expose them. Sad!

I am so saddened to hear that. My own father had colorectal cancer many many years ago, and we met our share of quacks with outrageous unsubstantiated claims for cures.

Most of these people have no interests in the patients, but simply just in selling expensive dubious products to desparate people.

I give you my full assurance that Jessie will be exposed eventually.

I've had met many cancer victims, and the only real cure is what allopaths can do. Cancer is just too deadly a disease and only agressive allopathic treatments will offer a chance of hope.

Thanks Cheah ... I am happy to hear about your mother's recovery. My father had surgery as well - only way to deal with the diseased organs. I did looked at all the alternate "cures", and none - and I mean not a single one - had any form of reliable track record. Lots of personal testimonials though.

I have heard of www.spymy.com from one of the bloggers who alerted me, but I am not planning anything like that for the moment until I have completed my own postings here and have given Jessie a fair chance to clarify her claims.

Actually quite a few people visit here - based on the nasty e-mails I get (or perhaps thats from Jessie's posse?) but most did not bother to comment for two reasons: no anonymous posting permitted previously (my bad), and most of the posts I made are factual in nature - so what's there to debate or comment other than "I support you" and "good work". I would prefer that people challenge me or supplement my posts with comments such as yours, relating personal experiences, etc.

I neglected to mention that the most popular cancer cure for colorectal cancer in North America is shark cartilage.

Quacks rationalized that sharks do not get cancer, and hence their cartilage has anti-cancer properties (when ingested and the bloodstream brings the cartilage protein to the tumour site, particularly in the colorectal regions). Actually sharks do get cancer - including in their cartilage - according to researchers at George Washington University!!!!

The biggest proponent of shark cartilage cure is Dr. William Lane (a legitimate Ph.D. from Rutgers, but in Agricultural Biochemistry and Nutrition, not medicine - a Ph.D. is not a God-given right to be a genius in everything medical) who produced a product called BeneFin through his son's company LaneLabs. Recently, Lane Labs was compelled by the US government to return US$8 M. to the consumers for the fraudulent claim that shark cartilage cures cancer.

A recent Cancer Journal (published by the American Cancer Society) paper published the result of a study by the Mayo Clinic and 14 other oncology clinics and centres, and involving 19 doctors, scientists and medical researchers. Their conclusion? No conclusive evidence of cure, including no improvement in quality of life.

Shark cartilage used to be very expensive in North America when it was promoted as a cure for cancer (and then later as PREVENTION for cancer - if they cannot catch you dying, they catch you alive and well). This was mostly through MLMs and direct sales. Now, it is a very common item freely available everywhere, as the dubious claims were just that. But there are still idiots out there consuming the products and naturopaths, etc. prescribing them.

At one time, the US was culling over 200,000 sharks per month for havesting cartilage purposes alone.

Never know that cancer is a common disease till mum landed in hospital for her radio n chemotheraphy. Nurses said cancer is like headache this day!!What I learnt is once one get cancer, dont waste your time to try for alternative. Work fast for the treatment given by doctor as the cancer cell multiply by seconds. We are always hold back by all this so call alternative medications.

hi mate. I am quite happy that there are someone out there who are doing what you re doing.

People should not fear truth. We, Malaysian, or infact we as people often are terrified of the idea of seeking for truth. I applaud what you are doing - be it you re malaysian, canadian, or african for that matter... as long as it's a good cause, i don't see why malaysians/usj.com or whoever should bash u. That is what i called misled/misplaced patriotism.

So, thanks for your effort. keep it up.

malaysian.

Thanks rt ... and welcome.

The mod at USJ wanted me muffled for some reason. Twice he accused me of having a personal vendetta whenever I provided updated information on Jessie's shifts to allude my requests for clarification on her credentials. In my opinion, if she openly make these claims, I am entitled to question them.

I think Asians by nature are not confrontational. I respect that, but don't stop others who wants to be more aggressive with the truth. In my numerous visits to Asia and my short stay in Malaysia, I've discovered this thing call "face", which I thought is culturally disadvantages to Asians in a global economy.

Hi qbuster,

Forget about the mod at usj. He's increasingly feeling insecure that contributors in the forum have become more intellectually outspoken. Hence the need to clamp down on certain contributors with his subjective excuses to give semblance of a more controlled forum under his superior watch.

Having said that, you have been doing a great job. Have a nice day.
